2013 Renault Megane: $19,990 Drive-away For New 1.2 Turbo Hatch

2013 RENAULT MEGANE

Renault Australia has added a new base engine to its Megane range, cutting the price of entry to $19,990 drive-away - down from $20,990 plus on-roads. 

Joining the updated line-up that hit Australia in July, the new entry Megane is powered by a 1.2 litre turbocharged and direct-injected four-cylinder petrol engine.

Replacing the existing entry model - the 103kW 2.0 litre Expression manual hatch - the new engine is available with a six-speed manual only and offers 97kW at 5500rpm and 205Nm of torque from 2000rpm.

Renault promises a 0-100km/h time of 10.9 seconds, while fuel consumption is listed at 5.6 l/100km. The engine, similar to the 1.2 litre unit in the new Clio hatch, also benefits from an engine-idle Start&Stop system.

The existing Megane Expression Hatch automatic model continues with the 2.0 litre petrol engine, matched to a continuously variable transmission. 

Specs and features for the Expression model remain otherwise unchanged from the July update, with 16-inch steel wheels and a cloth interior, along with cruise control and six airbags. There's also USB/aux audio, along with Bluetooth handsfree phone and audio streaming.

Pricing

The special price for the new 1.2 Expression is available only until November 15, however the 2.0 litre Expression CVT automatic model has also been given a $21,990 drive-away price (down from $22,990 plus on-roads) for the same period.
