The hardtop twin to Porsche's new Boxster has been spied testing in Europe this week.
Like its predecessor, the new Cayman will enter as a coupe version of the topless Boxster, with little separating the two beneath the skin, including a longer wheelbase, a wider track and shorter overhangs at each end.
Expect the new Boxster's 198kW 2.7 litre and 235kW 3.4 litre engines to star here, along with the same Cayman and Cayman S variants.
In Boxster form, the engines deliver 0-100km/h times of 5.7 seconds for the regular model, and 5.0 seconds flat for the S.
The new Cayman is likely to appear in the coming months, with September's Paris Motor Show or November's LA Auto Show its most likely destination. Watch for an Australian debut in late 2012 or early 2013.
