Porsche's new Cayman coupe has made its global debut in Los Angeles today, following weeks of leaks and revealing spy photos.
Entering as a hardtop twin to the Boxster and an entry-level alternative to the 911 coupe, the new Cayman is lighter, lower, longer and more powerful than its predecessor.
Porsche has endowed the new second (or is that third? Ask Porsche... - Ed.) generation Cayman with a 40 percent stiffer and 30kg lighter body, and a 15 percent improvement in fuel consumption.
The Cayman also benefits from a more cohesive design - no longer looking like a mere hardtop Boxster, the coupe gets a longer and sleeker new roofline, bringing it closer in style to the larger 911.
As before though, the Cayman does share most of its 'below the pillars' look with the Boxster, and both cars share the same interior design and layout.
Power is provided by a pair of flat six-cylinder engines, including a 202kW 2.7 litre unit and, for the top-shelf Cayman S, a 239kW 3.4 litre mill.
Both get a six-speed manual as standard, and Porsche's PDK dual-clutch auto shifter is also available.
