2013 Opel Insignia On Sale In Australia

Opel’s midsized Insignia will make its Australian sales debut in September, arriving in Sedan and Sports Tourer wagon form.

The Insignia range is set to compete with higher-spec versions of established medium offerings, including the Honda Accord Euro and Mazda6 ranges. Like the Mazda, the Insignia comes with a choice of two engine options.

The line-up opens with the petrol sedan at $38,490, topping out with the ‘Insignia Select’ Sports Tourer diesel priced at $48,490.

Mechanical Package

The Insignia range features two engines: one petrol, and one diesel. Both are 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder units, available with both the sedan and wagon bodystyles.

The petrol 2.0 litre turbocharged engine features direct injection, and produces 162kW and 350Nm of torque, with maximum torque produced between 2000-4000rpm.

The petrol engine - like the diesel - is tied to a six-speed torque-converter automatic transmission, and Opel promises a 0-100km/h time of 7.8 seconds for the sedan, and 8.1 seconds for the heavier Sports Tourer.
