2013 Nissan Pathfinder Interior Detailed

Nissan has released new information for its upcoming 2013 Pathfinder SUV, detailing the features that buyers can expect to find in the new softroader's cabin.

With the new Pathfinder returning to a road-focused unibody platform - rather than the Navara-based offroading architecture of the current model - Nissan reckons it has achieved a new level of space and comfort for passengers.

Inside, the new Pathfinder will offer seating for seven occupants, and both the second and third rows can fold flat for increased cargo space.

Nissan says that, like the all-new Patrol due later this year, the new Pathfinder will feature a more premium feel in the cabin (although not quite to Infiniti levels), including leather trim, heated and cooled front seats, heated second row, heated steering wheel, a 13-speaker Bose sound system, iPod connectivity, and push-button ignition.

Tri-zone climate control will also be available, along with a powered tailgate, DVD screens for the second row, Nissan's Around View monitor (uses multiple cameras to show a full exterior view), and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Nissan has already confirmed that the new Pathfinder will be powered by a V6 petrol engine matched to a CVT automatic transmision.

While technical details haven't been revealed, a 25 percent fuel-efficiency improvement is promised.

On the styling front, the new Pathfinder has moved away from the boxy design that the current model shares with the Navara pick-up, adopting a curvaceous new shape.

The new Pathfinder is expected to debut in production form in the coming year, with an Australian debut likely to occur either late this year or early in 2013.
