Porsche has a new 911; cue speculation and reports of another upgrade for the Nissan GT-R. This week, reports out of the US point to big power gains and a host of mechanical tweaks.

According to enthusiast website NAGTROC, a recent event at the Nurburgring saw details of the 2013 GT-R revealed to the European press.

What can we expect? If you were hoping for an all-new replacement for the GT-R (it will be six years old by the end of 2012), you'd best stop holding your breath. The 2013 GT-R will reportedly continue in the existing model line, with few to no styling changes.

Under the bonnet, it's a different story. Output for the GT-R's 3.8 litre twin-turbo V6 is expected to climb to 425kW - up from the last update's 390kW and a significant climb over the original 353kW.

Accompanying the power boost will be the usual changes: an updated ECU, revised suspension and transmission systems, and a few aero and intake tweaks.

Nissan itself has yet to offer any word on the 'new' GT-R, but if it's to carry a 2013 sticker, watch for more details to surface over the coming year.
