Mitsubishi's fourth-generation Pajero is now into its seventh year on the market, and the big family-hauling 4WD is showing no signs of slowing down.

To keep the big wagon near the top of your shopping list, Mitsubishi's local now carries a 5-Star ANCAP safety rating, up from its earlier 4-Star rating.

Boosting the Pajero's rating is the addition of a reversing camera and ISOFIX child restraints, joining Mitsubishi's RISE body construction system, along with front and side airbags and seatbelt reminders.

The updated line-up also sees the end of petrol models in the range, with only the 147kW/441Nm 3.2 litre diesel four-cylinder engine available for the 2014 model year.

Pricing and features are otherwise unchanged, with the five-seat GLX positioned at $50,990 with a five-speed manual transmission, and $53,990 for the five-speed automatic version.

Updated late last year, the GLX now offeres climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, a leather steering wheel and electric mirrors. There's also 17-inch alloys, front skid plate, rear fog lights, roof rails, wheelarch flares, and spare wheel cover.

The relatively new GLX-R model is now the cheapest seven-seat model, matching the GLX’s previous pricing of $55,990 in manual, and $58,990 in automatic.

Aside from the extra two pews, the GLX-R gains rear cabin air-conditioning, reversing camera, front fog lights, rear spoiler and side steps.

The VRX model is available with a manual for $60,990, whilst the automatic version drops $6900 to $63,990.

VRX models now come equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, reversing camera and sensors, headlamp washers, auto headlamps and wipers, partial leather trim with front seat heaters, puddle lamps and side mirror-mounted indicators.

Pricing for the Exceed has also dropped, with the diesel now $4000 cheaper at $77,990.

The Exceed’s equipment remains as before, adding high-intensity discharge headlamps, full-leather and woodgrain trim, 860W Rockford audio system, rear-seat DVD and wireless headphones, and chrome door handles and mirrors.

Mitsubishi’s 2013 Pajero range is available at dealers now.
