MINI’s high-riding Paceman hatch has arrived on our shores this week, just five months after its worldwide debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.

The Paceman is the seventh bodystyle to join MINI’s current lineup, and is defined by MINI as a ‘Sports Activity Coupe’.

Sharing its platform and 2596mm wheelbase with the five-door Countryman SUV, the Paceman features a unique tapered roofline and rear-end styling, and more pronounced hips on the rear quarters.

Available in Cooper and turbocharged Cooper S models, the Paceman also offeres a choice of manual or automatic transmissions.

Priced from $35,900 for the entry Cooper Paceman manual, and topping out at $46,450 for the Cooper S Paceman auto, the Paceman undercuts comparable all-wheel drive Countryman models significantly.
