New images for Mercedes-Benz' all-new SL topless tourer have surfaced online, revealing a few styling cues and a handful of technical details.

The images, which show off the SL's architecture just a few steps up from the "body-in-white" stage, follow a run of spy photos of a camouflaged test-car roaming European roads.

One of the slides lists a number of highlights for the new model, including a new Magic Vision Control system developed to keep water from the windshield washers from washing over into the cabin while the roof is down.

Mercedes has also developed a new audio system that uses space in the aluminium frame as resonance chambers for improved bass.

According to German website Auto Motor und Sport, which uncovered the images, the new SL will utilise lightweight materials and production methods to shed nearly 150kg compared to the outgoing model, while retaining similar dimensions.

Power and performance figures for the new model have not been revealed, but expect Merc's new 3.5 litre V6 and 4.6 litre V8 engines to star, with power figures ranging from 225kW and 368Nm to 320kW and 700Nm.

The hero SLS AMG's seven-speed DCT transmission will likely feature in the new SL, along with a number of its suspension and electrical components.
