McLaren has announced a run of updates to its new MP4-12C supercar, including more power and new features, just one year on from its international launch.

Early adopters needn't worry however, with McLaren confirming that the bulk of the upgrades will be offered free-of-charge to existing owners.

Headlining the tweaks is a boost in power, with revisions to the coupe's ECU lifting output from 441 to 460kW. The seven-speed SSG transmission has also had a going-over for improved responsiveness.

The crucial 0-100km/h figures remain unchanged at 3.1 seconds, although McLaren says the enhancements have shaved 0.1 and 1.0 seconds from the 0-200km/h and 0-300km/h times.

The claimed 0-400m (quarter-mile) time has also fallen by 0.1 seconds to 10.6 seconds, and top speed climbs by 3km/h to 333km/h.

Other changes for the 2013 model year include new programmable options for the Intake Sound Generator, allowing drivers to more precisely modify the amount of engine noise in the cabin in Normal, Sport and Track modes.

The MP4-12C's headlights are now linked to the rain sensor when in automatic mode, and the seats now feature an electric 'Easy Exit' sliding function and a 'Seat Return' setting.

While all of the above changes will be offered free-of-charge to existing owners, a range of 2013-specific updates have also been added:

  • Volcano Yellow paint finish
  • new 5-spoke lightweight-forged wheels available in multiple finishes
  • higher quality textured leather
  • three new levels of interior trim
  • Full Semi-Aniline Leather
  • Semi-Aniline Leather with Color Perforated Inserts
  • Full Semi-Aniline Leather
  • One Touch Seat Return
  • Vehicle Lift - front and rear by 40mm and 25mm
  • redesigned ‘Speed Marque' McLaren badge
