Now we can get a first look at the sporting shape of the new Mazda6 Touring, thanks to a new test-car snapped by TMR's spy photographers this week.
At the rear, the new Mazda6 Touring wagon will feature the same rising belt-line and a sloping D-pillar, along with tail-lights largely unchanged from the Takeri sedan concept.
Mazda has confirmed that the platform underpinning the CX-5 will form the basis of both the new Mazda6 and the smaller Mazda3. The strategy is to move the brand's core models away from technology shared with US carmaker Ford.
This will be the first time that the Mazda3 and Mazda6 will use the same platform.
Technologies in the new Mazda6 will include the carmaker's new SkyActiv engines, transmissions and lightweight construction techniques, along with a new i-ELOOP capacitor-based kinetic energy regenerative braking system.
The 2013 Mazda6 will be unveiled at September's Paris Motor Show. Watch for an Australian debut to occur early in 2013.
