2013 MAZDA6 REVEALED

Mazda has given the all-new Mazda6 sedan an unveiling at this week's Moscow Motor Show, ahead of its early-2013 Australian debut.

The midsized family car's Moscow reveal comes on the tail of shadowy teaser images showing that the new Mazda6 would draw its styling cues from the earlier Takeri concept.

The Takeri's look has carried over faithfully into the design of the third-generation 6, the two cars set apart largely by the production model's softer lines, larger glasshouse and taller face.

The Takeri's complex headlight internals have been swapped for a conventional lens and projector arrangement, and a BMW-like 'halo' LED light ring is also featured.

Other points of difference include a slightly shorter grille, larger tail-lights, conventional door handles and softened character lines along the car's profile.

For 2013, Mazda will drop the popular hatchback bodystyle from the 6 range, leaving only the sedan shown here, and the wagon revealed earlier this month.
