Land Rover's legendary Discovery 4WD has come in for a 2013 update, following the unveiling last month of the new Range Rover flagship.

For the new model year, the 'Disco' picks up new diesel engines, matched to ZF's eight-speed automatic transmission. A number of new features and options have also been added to the range.

Kicking off the 2013 range is the 155kW/520Nm 3.0 litre TDV6 diesel, replacing the outgoing 2.7-litre V6. Mated to the eight-speed auto, fuel consumption is listed at 8.5 l/100km.

A mid-spec 183kW/600Nm version of the same engine will also be offered, with fuel consumption rated at 8.8 l/100km.

In both models, maximum torque comes online at 2000rpm, and you'll find peak power at 4000rpm.

Topping the range is the naturally-aspirated 5.0 litre petrol V8, mated to ZF's stronger six-speed auto.

Power for the big V8 is rated at 276kW at 6500rpm, and 510Nm at 3500rpm. Fuel use here is listed at 14.1 l/100km.

In the cabin, the updated Discovery gets a revised infotainment system, adding DAB+ digital radio and a new digital TV tuner.
