2013 Jaguar XFR-S Storms Into LA, Hitting Australia Next Year

Jaguar's new XFR-S sedan has been let off the leash in LA this week, busting out the same supercharged 5.0 litre V8 that drives the XKR-S coupe.  Producing a hearty 404kW and 680Nm of torque, the big superV8 will propel the R-S to 100km/h

Jaguar's new XFR-S sedan has been let off the leash in LA this week, busting out the same supercharged 5.0 litre V8 that drives the XKR-S coupe.

Producing a hearty 404kW and 680Nm of torque, the big superV8 will propel the R-S to 100km/h in just 4.6 seconds - two-tenths shy of the XKR-S, and not far from the 412kW/680Nm BMW M5's 4.3 seconds.

An Australian debut for the big blue cat is expected to occur around the middle of next year, the carmaker's local arm has confirmed today.

Pricing is yet to be revealed, but we expect the XFR-S to land between the price of the $210,400 XFR and the $339,500 XKR-S Coupe. Rivals the M5 and E 63 AMG are priced  at $229,500 and $240,485 respectively.

The XFR-S was developed by Jaguar's hardcore ETO arm and draws on the enhanced engineering of both the XKR-S and the new F-Type roadster, putting it a good step ahead of the existing XFR hero.

The supercharged V8 is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission that gets a 'Quickshift' system developed for the F-Type, rather than the six-speed auto in the XFR and the XKR-S.
