Infiniti M Range On Sale In Australia

Infiniti's new M sedan range, already available overseas and previewed for Australia a number of times over the past year, has now made its local showroom debut.

In 2011, Nissan confirmed that its luxury Infiniti marque would at last make a full assault on the Australian market. TMR had its first taste of the range in New Zealand earlier this year, and pricing details were revealed in June. 

With the media launch taking place this week (watch for Tim O'Brien's 'first drive' review), local fans and luxury shoppers can now get their hands on the M sedan, and the high-riding FX SUV. 

Launching together with the FX, the M sedan range is offered in with three engine specifications: M37 petrol, M30d diesel, and the range-topping M35h petrol-electric hybrid. 

Mechanical Package

The M sedan range features three models and, depending on the specification, three trim grades: GT, GT Premium and S Premium.

The entry-level M37 is driven by the same 3.7 litre engine in the FX, delivering 235kW and 360Nm of torque.

Fuel consumption is listed at 10.2 l/100km, and Infiniti promises a 0-100km/h run of 6.2 seconds.

For the M30d, power is again provided by the 3.0 litre turbodiesel V6, delivering 175kW and 550Nm. Fuel use is listed at 7.5 l/100km, and the 0-100km/h sprint at 6.9 seconds.

Topping the range is the vaunted M35h hybrid, powered by a 225kW 3.5 litre V6 paired with a 50kW electric motor, offering 350Nm of torque.

Fuel use for the hybrid is listed at a low 6.9 l/100km, and a 5.5 second sprint to 100km/h is promised - making it quicker to the ton than Porsche's Panamera S.
