The once-rumoured and finally-confirmed Hyundai Veloster Turbo sports hatch has been given an early online unveiling today, ahead of its official debut at tomorrow's Detroit Auto Show.

Full details on the Veloster Turbo will be revealed in the coming hours, but the tidbits and images available right now are tasty enough.

The Golf GTI-rivalling Korean will deliver 152kW and 265Nm of torque, thanks to Hyundai's new 1.6 litre direct-injected and twin-scroll turbo-charged petrol engine mated to a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic.

The images shown here reveal that the Veloster Turbo will get a unique front-end, doing away with the body-coloured panel that splits the regular model's grille, along with restyled foglight bezels and a longer front lip.

Similar tweaks have been made at the rear end, with new deep-set reflector housings surrounding a more prominent rear diffuser and a pair of circular exhaust tips.

i40 Tourer-like LED taillights also replace the bulbs of the regular model.

Along the side is a pair of taller skirts, and the Turbo model also gets its own unique 18-inch five-spoke wheel design.

The Veloster Turbo is scheduled for an Australian debut sometime after the coming launch of the regular model. More details should surface after tomorrow's international unveiling.
