Honda Australia has revealed pricing and specifications for its new diesel-powered Civic Hatch, on sale locally from April.
Priced at $26,990 (plus on-roads), the Civic Hatch DTi-S diesel model will join the existing petrol line-up, updated last month with new features and pricing.
The new model is powered by Honda's 1.6 litre i-DTEC four-cylinder turbodiesel, revealed in 2011 and planted in the European-market Civic Hatch late last year.
Honda's 1.6 diesel produces 88kW and 300Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed manual tyransmission only. Australian combined-cycle fuel consumption figures are listed at 4.0 l/100km.
By comparison, Honda's recently revised 2.2 litre i-DTEC produces 110kW and 350Nm, with fuel use pegged at around 5.8 l/100km in the diesel CR-V SUV (expected here later in the year).
The new 1.6 engine is Honda's first diesel in Australia, and the first from its new Earth Dreams range to make its way here.
Honda also claims the 1.6 litre engine is the world's lightest diesel, coming in at 170kg thanks to an aluminium block, a compact turbocharger, and a focus on lightweight high-strength materials.
Standard features with the DTi-S variant will include 17-inch alloy wheels, auto stop/start, Hill Start Assist, automatic headlights and wipers, dual-zone climate control, Economy mode, daytime running lights, tyre pressure monitoring system and Honda's 'Magic Seats' system.
