Ford's properly-new 2013 Kuga SUV will offer EcoBoost petrol and TDCi diesel engine options when it goes on sale in Australia next year.
Announced at this week's Australian International Motor Show - where the new car is available for test drives - the news follows the local launch this year of the previous-generation Kuga.
While the current Kuga acts as a stop-gap model in Ford's local SUV line-up, the 2013 Kuga is an all-new offering, revealed last year as the US-market Escape.
The new Kuga is one of 10 cars to be built on the same C-segment platform that underpins the new Focus.
In Australia, the new Kuga will be offered with Ford's 177kW 2.0 litre turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine, along with a TDCi diesel option.
The diesel will prove a welcome addition for local buyers, with the current range driven exclusively by a 2.5 litre five-cylinder petrol engine.
Two diesel options are offered in the overseas range - 103kW and 120kW versions of the same engine - although it is likely Australia will see the more powerful of the two.
