Ford has again confirmed pricing and details for its updated Fiesta range, due in showrooms from September with new tech and new styling.

Starting from $15,825, the Fiesta's entry price has crept up by nearly $400, but Ford says the latest updates make up for the difference.

The updated Fiesta launches with a new 1.5 litre Duratec petrol engine, followed in December by a 1.0 litre three-cylinder EcoBoost unit, 2013's International Engine of the Year.

Ford's SYNC hands-free system is standard across the range, while the new Fiesta ST also gets the new Emergency Assist.

Capped Price Servicing will again be offered, ranging from $245 for most scheduled services, through to $375 and $405 for the 60,000km service.

Two new engine options are available in the revised Fiesta line-up, both petrol - which means the diesel option in the current range will not continue.

The range kicks off with a 1.5 litre four-cylinder Duratec engine, producing 82kW of power and 140Nm of torque.

Ford lists the new engine's fuel consumption figures at 5.8 l/100km in manual and automatic form, making for a 0.3 l/100km improvement over the outgoing model.

The Duratec engine will be joined in December by Ford's 1.0 litre three-cylinder EcoBoost engine, churning out 92kW and 170Nm.

Fuel use for the EcoBoost is listed at 4.9 l/100km in manual form and 5.3 l/100km for the auto.

Transmission choices with both engines are a five-speed manual or a six-speed PowerShift dual-clutch auto.

The Fiesta's suspension setup has also been updated, adding new bump-stops up front, while the electric power-assisted steering has been tuned to match the new suspension characteristics.

Standard features across the range include a leather steering wheel with audio controls, along with relocated window switches and interior door handles.

There's also new seat fabrics and designs, and Ford says it has improved support in the seats.

The headline act in the updated Fiesta range is Ford's new SYNC system, giving drivers hands-free, voice-activated in-car connectivity with mobile phones and media players.

Drivers can use voice commands to control the SYNC system, answering phone calls or selecting music from their smart phones connected via Bluetooth or USB.

Other features include optional rear parking sensors and Hill Launch Assist, which can hold the car steady for up to three seconds on a slope.

The Fiesta Sport model gets 16-inch alloy wheels, a roof spoiler and front 'mini spoiler', Sports badging, partial leather seats, Sony-branded audio system and a 4.2-inch display with eight speakers.

The Sport also gets an optional Executive Pack, adding single-zone climate control, rear parking sensors, automatic windshield wipers, automatic headlights, perimeter alarm and keyless entry with push button start.

Safety features include Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Anti-lock Brakes (ABS) with Brake Assist (BA) along with airbags for the driver, driver’s knee and front passenger, side airbags and curtain airbags.
