Ford's upcoming 2013 Fiesta update has been spied testing in Europe this week, wrapped in the usual heavy camouflage and wavy warpaint.
Even with the Hannibal Lecter face mask, fans of the Fiesta won't be hard-pressed to imagine what lies beneath: this is the production version of the update previewed by last year's turbocharged Fiesta ST "concept".
Following the light 2011 model-year update, the revised Fiesta will draw its inspiration from the all-new Focus hatch, rounding off the inside edge of the headlights and shifting the wide-open bottom grille design further north.
Like the Focus, it is likely that the 2013 Fiesta will launch with two unique bumper designs: one of the regular line-up, and one for the top-shelf ST variant.
The light car's bonnet has also been massaged, with four new character lines running front-to-back - yet more inspiration from last year's ST concept.
Expect the updated Fiesta to feature an EcoBoost petrol line-up, including the 74kW 1.0 litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine revealed in 2011. The new engine is set to enter production in the coming months.
The spy photos also reveal a testing log book that describes the test vehicle's engine: a new entry-level 59kW petrol engine.
