Harder, better, faster, stronger. The boffins at Ferrari might be fans of French duo Daft Punk if the latest reports on the expected Ferrari California tweaks are anything to go by.

According to Britain's Car magazine, the Prancing Horse's entry-level model has been put through bootcamp ahead of its mid-2012 update.

The Cali's 4.3 litre V8 engine has reportedly gained an additional 22kW of power, boosting output from 338 to 360kW - a handsome number, but not so close to the 458 Italia's 425kW that it could cause some bother.

The report adds that Ferrari has found an extra 30kg to cut from the California's kerb weight, with the use of new aluminium components dropping it to around 1700kg.

Whether the weight savings will do much for the superconvertible's 0-100km/h time remains to be seen.
