Talk of a Colorado-based SUV has been circulating for some time, and now the first real details have been revealed.
Teased here in a single shadowy image, the new medium SUV will be known internationally as the Trailblazer, reviving an old Chevrolet favourite on a new and smaller platform.
As with the new 2012 Holden Colorado pickup, the new Trailblazer will be developed in Brazil, with a global launch set to kick off from 2013.
GM has confirmed that the Trailblazer will share its ladder-chassis underpinnings with the Colorado, and from the teaser image above, it looks likely that both cars will share a common front-end design.
Like its pickup progenitor, Thailand will be the first market to get the new SUV, which will initially be built in South America and Asia.
Australian plans are unclear, but just as the Rodeo-based Frontera once figured in Holden's local line-up, the Colorado's SUV offspring will likely enter as a dedicated off-roading seven-seater wagon above the Captiva range.
