Local pricing and details for BMW’s all-new M6 two-door twins have surfaced ahead of their coming Australian launch.

A BMW dealer guide obtained by a TMR reader reveals that the local model will share the F10 M5 sedan’s seven-speed M-DCT dual clutch transmission, following speculation that the the M6 could arrive in Australia with an H-pattern option.

Launched in Europe earlier this year, the M6s also share the 412kW/680Nm 4.4 litre twin-turbo V8 engine with their M5 stablemate.

The 1850kg F12 M6 coupe tips the scales just 20kg lighter than the M5 sedan, but this is enough to reduce its claimed 0-100km/h acceleration figure by 0.1 second to 4.2 seconds.

That 0.01 second advantage won’t come cheap however, with the coupe’s $292,500 sticker price sitting $63,000 north of the M5’s current $229,500 ask.

The 1980kg F13 M6 convertible matches the M5’s 4.3 second 0-100km/h claimed figure, but is priced a further $16,000 up the scale at $308,500.

The M6 twins also carry a significant premium over the existing flagship two-door 650i models, with the M-treatment costing $60,700 above both bodystyles.

Both coupe and convertible ride on a 113mm shorter (2851mm) wheelbase than the M5, promising a dynamic advantage over the big sedan despite their overall length being just 12mm shorter.

Visually, the new models stand above the standard 6 Series thanks to traditional M-specific body addenda, including more aggressive front and rear valances, quad exhaust tips, and unique guard vents.

As with the previous E63 M6 coupe, the F12 features a lightweight carbon fibre roof panel.

All Australian M6s will come with 20 inch dual-spoke wheels, which are optional in some overseas markets that specify 19s as standard.

The local debut of the new M6 pair isn’t likely to be the last we’ll see from the family, with a Gran Coupe M6 variant expected to launch locally some time next year.
