BMW's new 3 Series GT has appeared without a shred of camouflage this week, revealing the final look of the latest Gran Turismo variant.

Bypassing the usual concept stage, the 3 GT is revealed here as a smaller partner to the 5 Series GT, bringing a tall profile and a coupe-like roofline.

The new five-door GT carries the frontal styling elements of the new 3 Series range, but picks up a tweaked bumper design and a broader grille with a stronger connecting point to the headlights.

The similarities end there however, behind the A-pillars it mirrors the 5 Series GT's long flowing roofline, high rear deck and new tail-lights. There is also a new brake vent positioned behind the front wheel arches.

The 3 Series GT is expected to feature the same four-cylinder turbo petrol and diesel engines offered with the sedan and wagon models, and an all-wheel-drive option is likely for overseas markets.

Expect a top-shelf M Sport model to headline the range, adding unique styling elements (possibly the gold car shown here) and sharpened handling.

The 3 Series GT is expected to debut at March's Geneva Motor Show, and a debut for the smaller 1 Series GT city car will likely follow later in the year.
