Spy photos over the past year have revealed something of the next-generation 1 Series hatch, and now a new advertising campaign hints at BMW's plans for its smallest model.

With covered versions of the five- and three-door 2013 1 Series Hatch variants as its centrepiece, a new website dubbed 'One Origin, Two Originals' hints at the distinct personalities of both cars.

Little about the new 1 Series itself is revealed however, although it appears a new 1 Series Coupe will not debut alongside the hatch models.

The absence of a new coupe comes as no surprise, with production of the upcoming first-generation 1 Series M Coupe expected to overlap with the debut of the new hatch.

The new 1 Series is expected to make its debut in the next year. However, with the updated first-generation hatch and coupe range not due for an Australian launch until the third quarter of this year, it could be some time before the all-new models arrive.

Spy photos have so far revealed little in the way of the new car's finer details. It is clear though that BMW is aiming for a 'shooting brake' inspired roofline for the new 1 Series three-door, setting it apart from its five-door sibling and giving it a sportier look.
