American automotive research organisation, Auto Pacific, has released its 17th annual Vehicle Satisfaction Awards in California.

The awards aim to provide advice for car buyers by measuring driver satisfaction over 51 categories, such as fuel economy and interior comfort. 

Several cars that made the list will be familiar to Australian drivers, with the Lexus LS 460 (best luxury car), Jeep Grand Cherokee (best midsized SUV ('large' here)) and Kia Optima (best midsized car) among them. 

Mazda’s CX-5 won best mid-size crossover SUV while the incoming Lexus ES won best luxury mid-size car.
