Audi has released details and images of its newly updated 2013 Audi Q5. This follows a gallery of leaked images that surfaced earlier this week.
A summer debut for the new car has been confirmed to TMR by Audi Australia.
Styling changes for the midsized SUV have been kept to a minimum, with the standout tweaks including revised headlight internals and an updated grille.
Audi's new ribbon-like LED daytime-running lights are now featured, replacing the individual LEDs of the outgoing model.
The grille has also been given a subtle makeover, taking on the softly squared-off corners seen on Audi's newer models, along with more chrome highlights.
The front bumper gets a more defined look to the foglight housings, while the rear-end gets the same ribbon LEDs in the taillights and a lightly revised bumper.
Internationally, the Q5's powertrains will be headlined by a 3.0 litre supercharged petrol V6, followed by a 2.0 litre petrol engine, three diesels and a petrol-electric hybrid model - the latter previewed in 2010.
The 3.0 litre supercharged V6 replaces the current 3.2 litre naturally-aspirated six, the new engine producing 200kW and 400Nm of torque.
The super-six promises a 0-100km/h time of 5.9 seconds, and fuel consumption is listed at 8.5 l/100km, bettering the outgoing engine's 9.3 l/100km.
The 2.0 litre TFSI petrol engine delivers 165kW and 350Nm, with fuel consumption listed at 7.6 l/100km.
Diesel engines include a pair of 2.0 litre engines producing 105kW/320Nm (5.3 l/100km) and 130kW/380Nm (6.0 l/100km), topped by a 3.0 litre V6 delivering 180kW and 580Nm of torque (6.4 l/100km).
Transmissions include an eight-speed automatic with the 3.0 supercharged V6, a seven-speed S Tronic dual-clutch auto with the 3.0 litre diesel, and six-speed manual transmissions with the 2.0 litre petrol and diesel options.
Depending on the variant, front-wheel-drive and quattro all-wheel-drive configurations are available.
A quattro-equipped hybrid model will also feature in the 2013 range, marking the introduction of the brand's first production hybrid vehicle.
The Q5 hybrid pairs a turbocharged 2.0 litre petrol engine with an electric motor and a modified eight-speed automatic, the combination delivering 180kW and 480Nm of torque.
Fuel consumption for the hybrid model is rated at 6.9 l/100km - bettering the 7.6 l/100km of the 165kW 2.0 litre petrol model - and the 0-100km/h time is listed at 7.1 seconds.
Audi promises an electric-only driving range of 3.0km, at speeds up to 60km/h.
Speaking with TMR today, Audi Australia's Shaun Cleary confirmed a Summer debut for the updated SUV. Expect late 2012 or very early 2013.
