2012 Subaru XV Priced For Australia

Subaru's new XV crossover will hit Australian showrooms in the coming weeks, but if you're ready to buy, you might have noticed that pricing details are available right now.

Listed on Subaru's local consumer website, the new XV will kick off with drive-away prices pegged at around $32,00 for the base 2.0i variant, around $35,700 for the 2.0i-L and around $38,000 for the top-shelf 2.0i-S model.

We say "around" because drive-away pricing varies from state to state, due to the different statutory charges (registration and third-party insurance) that each applies.

Mechanical Package

The XV will be powered by Subaru's third-generation 2.0 litre boxer engine, sending 110kW (at 6200rpm) and 196Nm of torque (at 4200rpm) through Subaru's 'symmetical' all-wheel-drive system.

The engine is paired with either a Lineatronic CVT automatic transmission with paddle shifts, or a traditional six-speed manual.

Fuel consumption and carbon emission figures for the 2.0 litre engine are listed at 7.0 l/100km and 162g/km for the CVT auto transmission, and 7.3 l/100km and 168g/km with the manual.

While the XV might look like a jacked-up Impreza, it offers a centre of gravity 39mm lower than the Nissan Dualis and 22mm lower than the Volkswagen Tiguan. Similarly, ground clearance is 32mm and 25mm greater, respectively.

Subaru says the body of the new XV is around 10kg lighter than its predecessor, and stiffness has been increased by around 25 percent.

Features and Safety

As with its new Impreza stablemate, the XV will offer a new 4.3-inch multi-function display across the range, while the 2.0i-L and 2.0i-S variants pick up a satellite navigation and SMS text-to-speech system.

The mid-range 2.0i-L adds an electric sunroof, dual zone air conditioning and rear privacy glass, and the top-shelf 2.0i-S gets leather trim, eight-way electronic adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, alloy pedals, silver roof rails, HID Xenon headlights and washers.

All three variants are fitted with 17-inch alloy wheels and a rear roof spoiler.

Safety features include seven airbags and a reversing camera across the range, along with Vehicle Dynamics Control and ABS braking with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution.

A 5-Star ANCAP Safety Rating is anticipated, although ANCAP has yet to reveal details here.
