Skoda's oddball Roomster small wagon is again available in Australia, returning this week after sluggish sales saw it dropped from the range in 2010.
To kickstart this second coming, the Roomster gets refreshed styling and a new engine. At a starting price of $22,490, it also undercuts its previous price by over $4000.
The Roomster five-seater will be offered in one trim grade, driven by Volkswagen's familiar 77TSI petrol engine matched to a manual and, for the first time, a DSG automatic transmission.
Mechanical Package and Dimensions
Power for the Roomster is provided by a direct-injected and turbocharged 1.2 litre four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 77kW and 175Nm of torque.
In both five-speed manual and seven-speed DSG automatic/tiptronic form, the engine lists fuel consumption figures of 5.9 l/100km.
Compared to the previous car's 1.6 litre engine, the 77TSI unit offers 22Nm more torque, and fuel consumption that is improved by 1.1 l/100km.
