Have you heard? Porsche has an all-new 911.

The German carmaker revealed its new hero car at last year's Frankfurt Motor Show, but in case you haven't seen enough, there's a new video this week of the '991' tearing up the UK's Silverstone race track.

Steered by Porsche Experience chief instructor Gordon Robertson, the new 911 - the top-shelf Carrera S in this case - is put through its paces as he describes the car's improvements over its predecessor.

They're not small, either. According to 911 Series Manager August Achleitner, the new model will - in its "best configuration" - lap the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 7:37. In the previous model, that's GT3 territory.

You can read more about the new 911 here, but the basics go like this: 3.8 litre direct-injected flat-six, 298kW and a 0-100km/h time of 4.5 seconds. Opt for the Sport Chrono pack and you can whittle that down to 4.1 seconds.

Catch the video below, and watch for the new model to go on sale in Australia in March.
