Opel is scheduled to hit the Australian market next year, and although the brand has so far confirmed launches for the Insignia and Astra only, a local debut for the new Zafira would help fill-out Australian showrooms.
The new Zafira will be sold in Europe alongside its predecessor, and a similar formula could be pursued in Australia, the older model priced more in-line with the Kia Carnival.
An Australian debut for the new Zafira would also be the model's first local appearance since the ill-fated first-generation Holden Zafira in the early 2000s.
For Europe, the Zafira will feature Opel's 2.0 litre CDTi turbodiesel engine in 82kW, 97kW and 123kW tunes.
A 103kW 1.4 litre turbocharged petrol engine will also figure among the Zafira's powertrain options. The same engine currently powers the Holden Cruze Series II SRi and SRi-V models.
The new Zafira offers 710 litres of storage space with all five seats up, or 1860 litres with the rear seats folded flat.
A new version of Opel's 'Flex7' seating system is also featured, allowing three independent middle-row seats to be moved individually.
