Nissan has confirmed that it will reveal a preview of an all-new Pathfinder at next month's Detroit Auto Show. As our new spy photos show, development of the new SUV is well underway.

Wrapped in puffer-jacket black plastic, the finer details of the new Pathfinder are well hidden for now.

It's clear however that the new model will take on a more rounded shape, with a Murano-like grille and headlight design, a sloping roofline and a rising belt.

Specifics for the new Pathfinder are thin on the ground, although reports suggest Nissan has opted to drop the body-on-frame design of the current model in favour of the car-like unibody platform used by the Murano and the new Infiniti JX.

Nissan says that the concept we'll see at Detroit will offer a solid preview of the new Pathfinder, which is expected to make its international production debut late in 2012.

Nissan Electric Van Heading To  Detroit

Has has also confirmed that it will reveal a new all-electric at Detroit next month, and while it has not offered any details, we can likely expect to see the e-NV200 van currently being tested in Japan.

Technical details for the electrified van have not been revealed, but it is likely that its drivetrain is derived from the system utilised in Nissan's electric Leaf passenger car.

Nissan says its Detroit Auto Show electric Van will come with a uniquely American twist: it will be fitted out as a food truck, where it offer a dose of "local Detroit flair" to showgoers.
