Mitsubishi Australia has unveiled it's 2012 vehicle lineup, with new models, new styling and more standard equipment applied to most models in the range.

The Triton and Challenger get new 2WD variants, and reversing cameras are now offered on all Lancer and ASX variants.

Lancer

Headlining the changes to the Lancer is the addition of a rear-view camera to each model's option list.

The camera display is integrated into the rear-vision mirror, and appears when reverse gear is selected. It's standard on the Lancer VR, VRX, Aspire and Ralliart, but is only available on the entry-level Lancer ES when the $970 Convenience Pack is optioned.

Besides the reversing camera, the Convenience package also includes Bluetooth phone integration, reverse parking sensors, an auto-dimming rear view mirror and a leather-trimmed steering wheel with audio controls.

The VR and VRX now get reversing sensors as standard. Aerodynamic add-ons have been applied to the cheeks of the VR's front bumper, and the VRX now sports a front fascia borrowed from the Lancer Ralliart, as well as new 18-inch alloys.

The Ralliart also gets new 18-inch wheels for 2012.

Inside, the interior ambience has been improved through the addition of soft-touch plastics on the front and rear door cards. The Lancer ES also gets new cloth upholstery and revised interior trim.

Lancer Aspire variants receive new gloss black dash trims, heated leather seats and a powered drivers seat. Changes to the Ralliart's interior are minimal, but the "baby Evo's" seats have been upholstered in new cloth material.

ASX

Like the Lancer, the ASX now gets a reversing camera - standard on all models bar the entry-level ASX 2WD.

Two new optional packages are now available on the 2WD ASX - the Convenience pack and the Luxury pack.

The Convenience pack adds $500 to the retail price and brings Bluetooth integration, reverse parking sensors and multifunction buttons on the steering wheel. The Luxury pack costs $3700 and adds Bluetooth, a reversing camera, leather upholstery, heated front seats, a powered driver's seat, 17-inch alloys, foglamps and extra chrome exterior trim.

4WD ASX variants gain a reversing camera as standard, along with a fold down rear centre armrest with integrated cup holders.

Pajero

A new front bumper, grille and new 18-inch alloys for the Pajero VRX and Exceed are the standout changes for the Pajero.

A reversing camera and electrochromatic rear view mirror are now standard on all models bar the base GL.

Outlander

Minor trim changes have been applied to the 2012 Outlander LS 2WD and 4WD range, and the entry-level model is now available with Bluetooth, reverse parking sensors and a reversing camera too (all standard on the LS 4WD 7-seater).

Reversing cameras are standard on the XLS and VR variants too, and both models get new interior trim.

Challenger

A new 2WD model has been added to the Challenger range. With less weight and lower driveline losses, the RWD-only Challenger consumes 8.2 l/100km when equipped with a five-speed manual, or 9.6 l/100km with an automatic transmission.

A 'Convenience Package' is available for the new entry-level Challenger 2WD, and bundles together side and curtain airbags, a reversing camera, 17-inch alloy wheels, foglamps, a new grille, rain-sensing wipers, dusk-sensing headlamps, climate control, a six-speaker stereo and leather-trimmed steering wheel.

Existing 4WD LS and XLS models carry over largely unchanged, but get a USB audio input and rear view camera as standard.

Triton

A 4x2 variant of the high-grade Triton GLX-R is new for 2012, as is a 4x4 GL-R model.

Height-adjustable driver's seats and more thickly bolstered front seats are now standard on the 4x4 GLX and 4x2 GL and GLX single-cab models, with the GL also receiving ABS and EBD as standard and the GLX models getting stability control and traction control.

The 4x4 GLX club cab has had its tow rating increased to three tonnes and sports wider 16-inch steel wheels, as well as front and rear fender flares.

iMiEV

The iMiEV, when launched only available on a lease basis to corporations and government bodies, is now available for purchase by the public and retails for $48,800

Changes over the previous version include the addition of electronic stability control, however the last model's proximity key has been replaced by a conventional keyed ignition.

A heated driver's seat, front and rear power windows, air conditioning and a leather-bound steering wheel are standard, though buyers can also opt for an in-dash DVD player and GPS package (which includes Bluetooth telephony) for an extra $2000.
