India's Mahindra has been spied testing the new short-wheelbase version of its Xylo MPV in Northern Europe this week, getting in a spot of cold-weather testing.

The Xylo Mini is expected to retain the seven-seat layout of its larger sibling, but thanks to the reduced wheelbase, the rear two seats are likely to be small jump pews, folding away to clear up some luggage space.

The styling of Mahindra's new models has shown improvement in recent months, with the new XUV500 a standout example.

The Xylo Mini looks likely to take more from its big brother however, featuring the same headlights and the familiar Mahindra grille design.

At the rear, the small MPV gets a pair of Fiat Panda-inspired quarter windows, flanked by high-set taillights and an external mount for the spare wheel.

Power for the Xylo Mini will likely come from the same 70kW four-cylinder diesel engine that drives the regular model, although a 52kW 1.5 litre engine is expected to drive the entry-level models.
