The all-new 2012 Lexus GS has been spied in China this week without a shred of camouflage, just days out from its Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance unveiling.

The photos, captured in a holding yard by Chinese website AutoHome, follow a teaser image released earlier this month (and leaked images from a Lexus survey). They provide the first rock-solid look at Lexus' new competitor in the luxury midsized sedan segment.

We also get a first glimpse at the rear end, with its CT 200h-inspired tail-lights and slender exhaust tips. The cabin has also been spied, with a hint of the large 12.3-inch widescreen centre display.

The car shown here is is the top-spec GS 350 AWD, driven by a revised version of the current 3.5 litre V6 engine.

Performance figures have not been revealed, but Lexus promises more power and improved fuel consumption.

Lexus has also confirmed that the weight of the new GS has been cut, with the 2013 model shedding 70kg to bring it down to a relatively slim 1650kg.

Little else is known at this stage. The new GS will be revealed to the world this weekend, so watch this space for more.
