2012 Jaguar XF 2.2 Diesel Australian Pricing Confirmed

Jaguar Australia confirmed at this week's Australian International Motor Show that its updated and facelifted 2012 XF range will have a new 2.2 litre diesel added when it launches in October.

Priced at $78,900 (plus on-roads), the 2012 XF

Jaguar Australia confirmed at this week's Australian International Motor Show that its updated and facelifted 2012 XF range will have a new 2.2 litre diesel added when it launches in October.

Priced at $78,900 (plus on-roads), the 2012 XF 2.2 diesel marks a new entry point into the XF line-up, undercutting the current line-up's most affordable model, the 175kW XF 3.0 petrol, by $14,900.

"To coincide with the launch of the 12MY range, Jaguar Australia has taken the opportunity to redesign the specification and pricing to ensure spec and features impress consumers and, of course, to catch the attention of customers who may now consider Jaguar as purchase proposition for the first time." Kevin Goult, Jaguar Australia's Brand Manager said.

The new variant's 2.2 litre diesel produces a healthy 141kW and 450Nm of torque. Combined with a new eight-speed ZF automatic transmission and stop/start technology, the small diesel lists fuel consumption figures of 5.4 l/100km.

Australian performance figures are still to be revealed, but Jaguar's earlier international release points to a 0-100km/h time of 8.5 seconds.

The new diesel is based on the 2.2 litre engine used by Ford and Land Rover, and features a water-cooled turbocharger, low-friction pistons, a new crankshaft and new injectors.

On the styling front, the updated XF range gets a number of styling tweaks - some subtle and some far-from. Up front, the 2012 models gets a wider grille flanked by sleek new headlights borrowed from the larger XJ saloon.

The XF's bonnet and front bumper remain largely unchanged but for sharper vertical character lines in the bumper, and even the chrome trim in the outer vents looks to have been merely flipped upside-down - to good effect.

Updates to the rear are similarly subtle, limited to restyled internals for the taillights, which now also extend into the bootlid at both the top and bottom.

The chrome trim along the bootlid now also has the look of stretching into the tail-lights, thanks to the chrome centre section of each light.

External updates are rounded out by a new gill design in the front quarter panels, along with new alloy wheel styles.

In the cabin, the 2012 XF picks up a new steering wheel and a restyled instrument panels, along with updated seats. On the entertainment front, a new 1200W Bowers & Wilkins sound system joins the options list.

Standard features for the entry-level 2.2 diesel XF include Bluetooth connectivity & audio streaming, Jaguar Smart Key System with keyless start, rain-sensing wipers, automatic climate control with air filtration and dual zone temperature control for driver and front passenger, auto on/off bi-xenon and LED daytime running lamps.

Full pricing and specifications for the updated 2012 XF range will be revealed closer its October launch.
