After nearly five years on the international market, the current generation of the popular Hyundai i30 is set for a replacement in the next year.
Now one of the older models in the Hyundai range, and with a slew of awards to its name, the i30 is credited with playing a significant role in the Korean carmaker's strong growth and market position.
Spied testing with a group of Hyundai vehicles, this heavily camouflaged testcar shows that the next-generation i30 will do away with the large vertical taillights, replaced with slimmer horizontal units running along the hatch liftgate.
A close view of the headlights also reveals internal daytime running lights that follow a similar design theme to the upcoming 'MD' sedan, sold in Korea as the Elantra.
For now, engine options for the new i30 remain pure speculation, but Hyundai-Kia's 1.6 litre Gamma GDI engine, producing 103kW and 165Nm, along with the 84kW/255Nm 1.7 litre diesel are both strong candidates.
