2012 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade Revealed: Video

Honda's new 2012 CBR1000RR Fireblade hero has made its international debut this week, celebrating 20 years since the CBR900RR appeared in 1991.

While not an all-new offering, the 2012 CBR1000RR gains Showa's Big Piston Fork tech and Honda's "balance-free" rear shock system - although specific information on the latter has yet to be detailed.

The engine itself remains largely untouched, although it gains revised fuel injection settings for improved response at smaller throttle openings.

Exact numbers are still to be released, but expect power to stick to around 115kW and 105Nm of torque.

The rear shock gets a double-tube design developed for improved damping and traction, and there's 43mm inverted telescoping forks up front with the aforementioned Big Piston system. 

The most obvious changes to the 2012 model come in the form of a styling update, with a new front-end design, a new 'layered' fairing to draw air away from the rider, and a new tail section.

There are also new 12-spoke cast aluminium wheels and a new multi-function LCD instrument panel with lap timer, gear position indicator, tachometer and four modes of display.

Speaking with TMR today, Honda Australia's Emma Kershaw said that local launch timing is still to be confirmed.
