Holden's new Colorado pickup will retain its 5-Star ANCAP crash safety rating when fitted with the brand's own bull bar, the carmaker has confirmed.

The updated safety rating, approved by ANCAP through an assessment of technical evidence supplied by Holden, will be welcome news for customers requiring a bull bar for work use.

Holden's Steve Curtsis said the bull bar had been put through rigorous crash and impact tests to meet and exceed Australia's safety standards.

“Colorado’s accessories were engineered and developed locally by Holden, and were fully tested to ensure the highest possible levels of functionality, integration and safety performance,” Curtis said.

“The bull bar was subject to rigorous crash and impact tests to ensure that it meets or exceeds Holden’s and Australia’s highest safety standards."

Standard safety features in the new Colorado include driver and front passenger airbags, full-length curtain airbags, Electronic Stability Control, Anti-lock Braking, and Electronic Brake Force Distribution.

The Colorado also benefits from high-strength steel in its construction, along with full-length side impact protection beams.
