Audi has released new artwork for its next-generation A3 hatch, previewing what's to come for the luxury brand's small car range.

Just as last month's A3 Sedan Concept followed earlier sketches, we can likely expect to see a 2012 A3 Hatch concept in the coming months.

Up front, the illustrated hatch features bold lines that will likely translate into a face identical to Sedan concept's visage, while the profile reveals similarly sharp character lines.

At the rear, the three-door A3 Hatch sketch shows a built-in roof spoiler and a more tightly defined C-pillar. As is often the case in production, the hatch's taillights appear markedly different to the Sedan Concept.

New artwork for the A3 Sedan has also been released (see gallery below), revealing a look that is more production-focused than the concept revealed at last month's Geneva Motor Show.

Audi has revealed little else about its next-generation A3 range, and speculation continues as to whether the new model's S and RS performance variants will be offered in both Hatch and Sedan form.

If nothing else, the new A3 is expected to feature a hybrid variant, while yesterday's unveiling of the A3 e-tron concept suggests an all-electric version may also be in development.
