Suzuki's 2011 SX4 hatch and sedan have come in for a safety upgrade, gaining side and curtain airbags at no extra cost.

The additional airbags make for a total of six airbags as standard, joining the now-standard Electronic Stability Control for the 2011 model year.

“The SX4 has always been one of the best value choices in its class combining performance, efficiency and Suzuki’s legendary reliability," Suzuki Australia General Manager Tony Devers said.

“And now with the added safety of six airbags across the range – at no extra expense to our customers – the SX4 is also one of the safest for any adventure you throw at it."

This latest round of safety upgrades follows the announcement of a new ANCAP 5-Star crash safety rating for the 2011 Swift hatch and the Kizashi medium sedan. Both cars now offer seven airbags and ESC as standard.

The 2011 SX4 is priced from $20,490 plus on-road costs.
