Renault Australia has today announced availability of the Phase III updated-for-2011 Trafic van, bringing a passenger airbag and a new double bench seat.

The Phase III Trafic gets a number of other interior updates, including a restyled dashboard and instrument cluster. Illumination in the instrument cluster is enhanced, chrome rings have been added to the gauges, and cruise-control settings are now displayed in the multifunction display.

There's a new steering wheel, adding integrated cruise-control buttons, and the centre stack features a new audio system with CD/MP3 playback, aux/Bluetooth connectivity and four 20W speakers.

The updated dashboard features new light and dark charcoal colour schemes. There is also a new storage space on top for an A4-sized clipboard or documents.

On the optional extras front, there's a TomTom satellite navigation system with a remote control that clips into the storage cubby when not in use.

Other options include climate control (with further optional additional heating), automatic lights and wipers, a full-steel bulkhead, a glazed bulkhead, driver rear cabin protection mesh, glazed tailgate, right-hand sliding door with opening window, front fog lamps, body coloured bumper, 16-inch alloy wheels and rear parking sensors.

Renault's Electronic Stability Programme is also available as an optional extra for manual models.

The Renault Trafic is available in standard and long wheelbase platforms, offering 5.0 or 6.0 cubic metres of load space respectively, 2000kg braked trailer towing, and 180-degree rear barn doors.

Power is provided by a four-cylinder diesel engine producing 85kW and 290Nm of torque at 1600rpm, mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed Quickshit transmission.

Fuel consumption is listed at 8.3 l/100km for the manual-equipped Trafic, and 8.0 l/100km for the Quickshift.

Standard equipment includes three seats, cruise control, left-hand side sliding door and opening window and power front door mirrors.

Safety features include dual front airbags, ABS braking with electronic brakeforce distribution, height-adjustable seatbelts with pre-tensioners and load limiters, along with an alarm and remote central locking.
