2011 RENAULT KANGOO

Renault Australia has announced availability of the new-generation 2011 Kangoo van today, offering a competitive new option for light commercial vehicle buyers.

Built on the Renault Scenic platform and priced from $24,490 (plus on-road costs), the new Kangoo is available in either petrol or diesel form, with automatic and manual transmissions.

“The new Kangoo scores highly on practicality and flexibility and is very adaptable to users’ needs, and it will build on the strong name its predecessor has already entrenched in the hearts and minds of business users in Australia," Renault Australia MD Justin Hocevar said.

“The new model offers a choice of efficient petrol or diesel engines, with significantly increased payload and a larger carrying capacity. The engines, especially the diesel, are extremely efficient and will reduce running costs for customers."

Engines and Fuel Consumption

With the 1.6 litre petrol engine, the Kangoo is offered with a four-speed automatic transmission and delivers 78kW and 148Nm of torque.

In diesel form, the Kangoo gets a five-speed manual transmission and produces 63kW and 200Nm of torque.

Fuel consumption for the Kangoo petrol is listed at 8.3 l/100km for the petrol engine, while the diesel engine uses just 5.2 l/100km.

Load Lugging

Longer and wider than its predecessor, the new Kangoo can fit 3.0 cub metres into its cargo area. The diesel variant will carry a payload of up to 800kg, while the petrol model can manage up to 650kg.

Internal load length has increased by 60mm to 1731mm with the passenger seat upright, and loads up to 1218mm wide can be accommodated between the rear wheel arches.

The kerb-side sliding door offers a 635mm-wide opening, and the assymetrically-split rear doors open through 90 and 180 degrees.

The 2697mm wheelbase of the new Kangoo is almost 100mm longer, while the front and rear track has been increased to 1521 and 1534mm respectively - an increase of 121mm and 114mm.

Up Front

In the cabin, the Kangoo offers under-seat storage, an overhead compartment, a 15-litre glovebox, storage for an A4 clipboard, large door pockets and a large centre console.

Standard features include Bluetooth connectivity and cruise control with a speed limiter.

Other standard features include power front windows, folding and heated body-coloured door mirrors, height adjustable steering, trip computer, 2x15W AM/FM stereo with aux connectivity, single CD/MP3 player and fingertip controls.

Tinted front windows, colour-coded front grille, fog lights and tubular protection bars behind the driver's seat are also included.

Options

Options include ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) with traction and understeer control on the petrol model, front passenger airbag, side airbags for driver and passenger, automatic lights and windscreen wipers and a right-hand side sliding door.

Glazing for both sliding doors, rear parking sensors, glazed tailgate with rear wiper (in place of barn doors), and a plastic sliding roof flap are also available on the Kangoo's options list.
