Following the launch in September of the wider 2011 X-Trail line-up, Nissan Australia has announced local availability of the 2011 X-Trail 2WD in ST and ST-L specifications.

Joining the range as the entry-level offering, the ST Manual 2WD starts at just $27,990, drive-away (introductory launch offer).

“We are confident that our specification advantage, combined with a dynamite $27,990 Driveaway launch price position will vault the Nissan X-TRAIL to the top of the shopping list for couples and families in the market for a practical and flexible vehicle of this type," Nissan Australia CEO Dan Thompson said.

“We are sending a strong message to the market that we are serious about improving our market share and sales position still further in 2011."

The new 2WD X-Trail is offered with both manual and optional CVT automatic transmissions in ST trim, and CVT transmission as standard with the ST-L grade.

Power for both variants is provided by Nissan's 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol engine - also featured in the Dualis and producing 102kW and 198Nm of torque.

Fuel consumption is listed at 8.5 l/100km for the manual, and a close 8.4 l/100km for the CVT automatic.

The new Nissan X-TRAIL ST 2WD manual features 17-inch alloy wheels, side airbags, roof curtain airbags, Electronic Stability Program, Bluetooth handsfree phone system, MP3 player input, 6 CD changer and removable washable luggage boards.

Steering wheel mounted audio, cruise control, as well as heated and cooled glove box and cup holders are also included as standard equipment.

The auto-only X-TRAIL ST-L 2WD features leather seat trim, electrically adjustable and heated front seats, rear cargo blind, privacy glass, climate control air-conditioning and front fog lights.
