Jeep Australia has announced the local release of the updated-for-2011 Patriot SUV, following its international launch in September last year.
For 2011, the compact SUV gets a new front bumper with foglights as standard equipment, along with a new rear bumper, 17-inch alloy wheels and four new colour choices.
The interior of the Patriot also sees a modest update for 2011, picking up new soft-touch plastics and a new steering wheel with wheel-mounted controls.
Mechanical
Mechanical updates are limited to revisions to the steering and suspension tune.
The Patriot's drivetrain remains unchanged, with power coming from a 2.4 litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 125kW at 6000 rpm and 220Nm of torque at 4500rpm.
Two transmissions are available: a five-speed manual and a CVT automatic transmission. Chrysler's active on-demand 'Freedom-Drive' system is also featured, including a selectable Lock mode.
Fuel consumption is listed at 8.4 l/100km for the manual transmission, and 9.1 l/100km with the CVT.
Features
The 2011 Patriot's standard features include powered, heated and foldaway side mirrors, engine immobiliser, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio control and tilt column.
There's a new centre armrest, premium bucket seats up front, backlit door, window and power mirror controls and - for the Limited trim - standard automatic temperature control.
Chrysler's Uconnect Voice Command system is also now available as an option.
Safety
Standard safety features include driver and front-passenger airbags and side curtain airbags. Supplemental driver and front-passenger seat-mounted side airbags are available as an option ($550 along with tyre pressure monitor display).
The updated Patriot also gets four-wheel ABS disc brakes, hill-start assist and electronic stability control with brake assist, traction control, electronic roll mitigation and brake lock differentials.
Jeep's Enhanced Accident Response System is also a key feature of the new model, turning on interior and hazard lights, unlocking doors and shutting off fuel in the event of an impact that causes air-bag deployment.
