Honda has this week revealed the updated 2011 Honda Accord for the US market. Although Honda Australia has offered no official word at this point, it is likely that this update will make its way to local showrooms in the coming year.
The most obvious changes appear up front, with a new grille inspired by the US-market Accord Crosstour, along with a sportier front bumper.
Inside, the US-market Accord sees a more driver-oriented arrangement to the centre stack, with the climate control buttons moved closer to the driver's seat.
There are also modest updates to the instrument panel, and improved seat fabrics. Being a left-hand-drive model however, it is unclear if the instrument layout changes will be reflected in Australia and Japan (where it is sold as the Inspire).
In the US and as with the current Australian range, the updated Accord will continue using the current 2.4 litre four-cylinder and 3.5 litre V6 petrol engines, developing 133kW and 202kW respectively.
Fuel consumption figures are noticeably improved however, with revised aerodynamics seeing the city use drop to 10.2 l/100km for the four-cylinder (12.5 for current Australian model) and 12.3 l/100km (10.0 l/100km Australia).
The last updated to the Accord range in Australia came in January this year, with curtain airbags added to the line-up.
Honda Australia has been contacted regarding local availability of the 2011 update.
