Holden has today released images and details of its revised Series II Captiva SUV line-up, ahead of its March sales debut.

Bringing a fresh new face for the Captiva 7 and a number of styling tweaks to the Captiva 5, the Series II range also gets new-generation petrol and diesel engines and six-speed transmissions.

2011 Holden Series II Captiva 7

The 2011 Captiva 7 gets the most obvious updates of the pair, its new face previewed by the unveiling of the refreshed Chevrolet Captiva in September last year.

On the styling front, the Captiva 7 features a new headlight design similar to the coming 2011 Barina, along with a new twin-port grille, a re-sculptured bonnet and more prominent foglights.

Turn signals are now integrated into the wing mirrors, and a range of new wheel designs are featured, including 17-inch alloys for the SX, 18-inch alloys for the CX and 19-inch alloys for the LX.

Inside, the Captiva 7 gets an electric park brake, doing away with the hand brake lever and creating space for a new multi-purpose storage compartment.

Features for the entry-level LX include Bluetooth connectivity, air-conditioning, cruise control and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

The CX gets climate control, a driver information display, Sportec seat bolsters and Rear Park Assist, while the top-shelf LX gains leather seats and a seven-inch touch screen with satellite navigation, rear view camera and USB connectivity.

The Series II Captiva 7 is powered by three engine options, depending on the model grade.

The entry SX is powered by a 123kW/230Nm 2.4 litre DOHC four-cylinder petrol engine, while the CX and LX can be had with either a 135kW/400Nm 2.2 litre four-cylinder turbodiesel, or the Commodore-powering 190kW 3.0 litre SIDI V6 petrol engine.

All three engines are paired to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Fuel economy for the 2.4 litre SX is listed at 9.1 l/100km. The 2.2 litre turbodiesel returns figures of 8.1 l/100km in 2WD form and 8.3 l/100km for AWD models, and the petrol V6 is listed at 11.3 l/100km.

Safety features include the addition of side impact airbags, bringing the total airbag count to six. Electronic Stability Control is also standard, incorporating ABS, electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, traction control, hill-start assist, descent control and active rollover protection.

The CX variant features rear park assist, and the LX also features a rear view camera.

It features a revised grille design, along with a slim air-intake in the front bumper and fog lights in new chrome bezels.

There are also new 17-inch alloy wheels, along with a choice of nine exterior colours.

Inside, the Captiva 5 gets a new electric park-brake in the centre console, and a multi-function trip computer has been added to the Captiva 5's instrument cluster.

Engine options mirror the Captiva 7's range, except for the V6 petrol which is not offered with the Captiva 5.

Holden's new generation 2.2 litre four-cylinder diesel engine tops the Captiva 5 range, producing 135kW and 400Nm of torque. The 2.4 litre four-cylinder DOHC petrol engine is also available, developing 123kW and 230Nm of torque.

Safety features include the addition of side impact airbags, making for a total of six.

An Electronic Stability Control system incorporates anti-lock braking, electronic brakeforce distribution, brake assist, traction control, active rollover protection. The active AWD system determines requirements for optimum traction and a descent control system helps navigate steep downhill gradients.

Standard front and rear park assist increases manoeuvrability in tight spaces and acts as a practical preventative safety device.
