2011 Holden Captiva Previewed In Chevrolet Captiva Update
2011 HOLDEN CAPTIVA
Holden's international stablemate Chevrolet has revealed a 2011 model-year update for its version of the global Captiva seven-seat SUV this week, offering a glimpse of what Australian buyers can likely expect for the Holden Captiva in the coming year.
On the styling front, the updated Captiva gets a new face with restyled headlights and a new front bumper, along with Chevrolet's updated grille design - most recently seen on the all-new Aveo last week, itself likely to replace the Holden Barina in 2011.
While the Chevy grille will give way to a face more suited to the local Holden flavour, the new headlights will likely transition to the Australian-delivered Captiva and should mesh well with the similarly-styled VE Series II Commodore lights.
Photos of the interior have yet to be released, although Chevrolet promises a cabin with upgraded surfaces and new upholstery options, along with an upgraded audio system featuring USB, aux and Bluetooth connectivity. There is also an electronic park brake, freeing space in the centre console for larger cup holders.
For the US market, the 2011 Captiva gains four new powertrains, all paired with manual and six-speed automatic transmissions.
Petrol engines include a 2.4 litre four-cylinder producing 127kW, along with a more powerful 3.0 litre V6 developing 192kW.
In Australia, the 2010 Captiva 7's petrol options are made up of the 3.2 litre Alloytec V6, producing 169kW, while a 2.4 litre petrol engine features in the Captiva 5, producing 103kW.
Diesel engines for the overseas 2011 Captiva will include a turbocharged 2.2 litre common-rail engine available in two guises, producing 121kW and 137kW respectively. The Australian-delivered Captiva 7 is offered with a 2.0 litre diesel engine producing 110kW.
With Holden last introducing an update to the Captiva in 2009, this latest refresh would likely arrive in Australia early to mid-2011, although Holden has yet to confirm its plans for the 2011 Captiva.
