Boutique automaker Wiesmann, a creation of brothers Martin and Friedhelm in 1985, has announced that its upcoming GT MF4-S Roadster, set to debut in Geneva this year, will be packing BMW's 4.0 litre V8 engine as seen in the E92 BMW M3.

This has been a standard theme for Wiesmann vehicles as the MF3 also features a BMW M-spec engine, the now discontinued 252kW 3.2-litre straight six. With the cessation of the 3.2 litre, it appears Wiesmann was left with little alternative.

The GT MF4-S roadster will sit alongside the GT MF4 which is powered by a larger but less powerful 4.8 litre BMW V8. The 4.0 litre engine is capable of over 350kWs while the 4.8 litre makes do with 270kWs.

To add to the confusion, There's also a an MF4 GT-S, using the same 4.0 litre engine, and a GT MF5 using BMW's 5.0 litre V10 engine. The latter models are not part of the roadster lineup.

Buyers can choose between manual and double-clutch automatic transmissions. Driver and passenger airbags come as standard features.

We're expecting further specifications and pricing information closer to Geneva so be sure to check back closer to the show in early March. (Is it just us, or does this look horn?)
