Volvo has teased the bold new face of its next-generation V40 small hatch and the new XC40 small SUV, releasing a three images of the ‘40 Series’ face a week ahead of their official unveiling in concept form.
The images, released on the company’s Snapchat account with the cheeky caption “Not your daddy’s Volvo”, show both the V40 and XC40 will adopt the same “Thor’s Hammer” LED daytime running lamp motif of the S90 sedan and XC90 large SUV.
The headlamps themselves also become narrower and the bonnet shutline extends further forward and lower. Volvo’s signature “Iron Mark” grille, meanwhile, is bolder and more upright.
Both the V40 and its crossover counterpart will be revealed in full next week on May 18 in Sweden, albeit strictly as “concepts”.
Production versions of both cars are expected either later this year or early in 2016, as is the return of the S40 nameplate in the form of a sedan version of the V40 hatch.
